Hello Linsford Families,
We are excited for our Passport to Family Wellness event next week! Be sure to save the date. This is a fun evening that hosts a variety of fun activities for parents and children to do together. Be sure to save the date - Tuesday, January 27th! More information and details are further down in this week's update.
Our students are really enjoying the warmer temperatures and many have been having lots of fun outside at recess and have also done some cool physed games outside. There are times when some of our younger students get over excited and forget to be hands-free at recess time, as this may be a type of play that is done at home. For safety reasons, we don't engage in play wrestling or play fighting at school. We have had a number of reminders this past week for safe play. As part of this messaging, is also the reminder to not throw ice or snow chunks as they can hurt someone or cause damage. Please reinforce the importance of safe play at school with your child(ren). Thank you in advance for your support with this!
Don't forget to get your WEM waterpark tickets! This fun event is just under a week away! Thank you to our parent fundraiser group for organizing this outing for our school. If you are interested in joining us for school council or fundraiser meetings, we would love to see you. Our January meeting is tomorrow evening at 6:00 pm.

BASKETBALL TEAM HIGHLIGHTS
Our boys and girls basketball teams played their second game against New Sarepta this week. You can see a few highlights from the girls game. They continue to progress and learn the game and have amazing team spirit. Unfortunately, we don't have any pictures from the boys game. They played an exciting and close game and were thrilled to have their second win of the season!
The boys also played in their tournament to end their season. They played 3 games. Their first game was a loss by one basket, the second game was difficult and though they persevered through some injuries, it did not end in their favour. Their 3rd game of the tournament ended in a loss as well, but the boys played extremely well against the top seeded team and were at the top side of the scoreboard in the first half. Congratulations on working well as a team through a number of challenges this past weekend! We would also like to send out a big THANK YOU to all of the parents and fans that came out to cheer us on!
SPECIAL THANK YOU!
Our basketball teams got a very special donation last week. Both teams were outfitted with new uniform shorts to go with our jerseys. They arrived just in time for the boys basketball tournament and the girls will wear theirs next week at their upcoming tournament in Devon at Riverview Middle School. Thank you to Viking Machining Inc for the generous donation. Our students are very excited!
PASSPORT TO FAMILY WELLNESS EVENT:
We are excited to partner once again with our division MHCB (Mental Health Capacity Building / Recovery Alberta) team to bring to you our passport to family wellness evening on Tuesday, January 27! If you want to know what it is all about, check out the video below from last year. This event is open to all LPS families and is available at no cost to you! We will have similar stations to last year, with a few new ones added in for fun. Hope to see you there!
Our event will be from 5:30 - 7:00 pm! Do as many stations in you can during this time!

Both School Council and the Parents' Fundraising Association are currently seeking a Secretary for the upcoming year. This is an important role that helps keep our parent groups running smoothly. No prior experience is required—just a willingness to contribute, take notes during meetings, and help ensure communication stays clear and organized.
If you or someone you know might be interested, please reach out. And remember—anyone can join our School Council or Parents' Association.
